All my fundraising so far has been for Alzheimer's Research, and the reason for this is very personal to me. In December 2015 I lost my mum, Leane Grimshaw, to Alzheimer's. Here is where you can read a bit more about why I'm fundraising for Alzheimer's Research, and about my mum.
In the summer of 2013, John Grimshaw started a series of six endurance events over two months, raising a total of £561 sponsorship for Alzheimer's Research UK. In 2014 he beat that record with nine endurance events over eight months, almost doubling the money he raised with £1045. For 2015 he planned a huge twenty one races over eleven months of the year. In 2016 John surpassed all previous years and completed twenty five events, running almost every week over 9 months of the year...
After four years of up to 25 sponsored events a year, John changed gear in 2017. He continued entering events - including running as a pacer for 1 hr 55 mins in the Great North Run, competing in a very appropriate 'Duracell Bunny' outfit! But he took a break from fundraising - until the opportunity came up to take part in his biggest event yet! On the 22nd October 2017, John competed in Edinburgh's first ever urban ultra marathon - 55km through streets, alleyways, onto hills, up crags, past monuments, museums, seats of Royalty, Government and up and down 3000 feet of ascent and descent. In 2018 John took on an even bigger event yet...The Wall - a 69 mile run across the entire width of the UK from Carlisle to Gateshead...and succeeded in a time of 15:56:44.
This website gives you more information about John, about the last 5 years events and the one/s for this year and more importantly about how you can still sponsor John to raise money for Alzheimer's Research UK - a leading protagonist in the fight against Alzheimer's.
So, please read as much or as little information as you want, and please...
